Annual Home Heating Maintenance Checkup

No one wants to endure the stress of dealing with a furnace problem. A furnace emergency can be difficult to resolve, but an emergency technician can quickly address any mechanical failure. Common emergency furnace repair problems can occur at any time regardless of the age of the system.

Know Your furnace

One of the most overlooked furnace maintenance problems is a contaminated filter. If the problem isn’t resolved, the motor in the system can become damaged. If the motor is damaged, the system can stop working altogether. Usually before the furnace motor stops working altogether, there will be a humming noise. This is one of the most common furnace failure problems.

Excess levels of gas are other potential issues that happen with older furnaces. Whenever a crack is detected, the CO2 levels can increase to dangerous levels. The tasteless, odorless gases can be potentially fatal when inhaled at high levels. Homeowners can look for symptoms like dizziness and flu-like symptoms. This can often mean that the furnace is on the brink of failure and may need emergency repairs.

When the emergency switch shuts off on accident, a fuse or circuit breaker could become damaged. If an emergency shut off switch goes off, turning it back on again is the first step in troubleshooting. If it doesn’t turn on, the system may need to be reset. If the system happens to turn on and then shut off again immediately, the furnace must be repaired immediately. If that doesn’t work, an emergency furnace service technician needs to be contacted immediately.

Knowledgeable Technicians

Knowledgeable technicians are able to address any emergency furnace problems. Trained technicians have the required training and the necessary expertise to ensure that the repairs are done right the first time. Technicians experienced in working with different models of furnaces can have the system up and running quickly, restoring safety immediately to the home.

Homeowners are most vulnerable during the winter months. Those with older furnaces or furnaces that haven’t been serviced in a long time are most at risk for having emergency furnace problems. Common furnace repair problems can be potentially dangerous for households. Calling a technician to quickly handle any repairs can quickly make the home safe for the residents. Trained technicians available around the clock make it possible to have the furnace quickly repaired to get it back up and running in no time.

Most homeowners think of a broken furnace as one that stops functioning, but that is not always the case. In addition to mechanical failure, there can also be subtle indications that repair is in a furnace’s future, that the unit is actually broken but still appears to be functioning. If your furnace displays one or more of the signs below, you should consider it as an indicator that it may need repair, and schedule an appointment with an HVAC technician as soon as possible:

The Unit Makes Unusual Noises

No furnace is completely silent. If you hear unusual banging, whining, or groaning noises emanating from your furnace, it may be a sign that it has difficulty igniting, has a loose belt, or has a worn out part that will soon break. If the noises are caused by something else, you may need to call Ghostbusters instead of an HVAC company.

You Need to Set Your Thermostat Higher than Normal

When a home stops heating well, the response of most homeowners is to raise the thermostat setting. As the problem grows worse, though, even the highest setting can fail to deliver warmth. Before your home reaches this point, have a furnace repair technician perform an inspection. The problem may be a faulty thermostat, a problem with an intermittent pilot ignition system, or even leaky ductwork.

Your Energy Bills are Inordinately High

If your electrical bills are high this winter, it may be because your air distribution fan will not kick off, or because you raise the thermostat setting to compensate for a lack of heat. It could also be that your furnace performs inefficiently due to a clogged air filter or leaky ducts. Instead of paying a utility bill that matches your mortgage payment, call a repair technician instead.

The Pilot Light is Yellow

If you inspect your furnace and notice that the pilot light is yellow, it may indicate the presence of carbon monoxide. A blue flame indicates the gas mixture is normal; a yellow flame indicates it is not. If carbon monoxide is detected, the technician can determine whether your HVAC equipment or your home is the source of the problem.

The Unit has Trouble Kicking On or Staying On

If your furnace takes a long time to kick on, or it kicks on as usual but it does not stay on, a broken thermostat, faulty wiring, or a pilot light ignition problem could be to blame. There could also be a problem with the distribution fan motor. Like the other problems in this list, a furnace that has trouble kicking on usually gets worse over time.

Conclusion

The need for furnace repair usually occurs at the most inopportune time-when your furnace is busy heating your home. Ann Atlanta heating and air conditioning company that specializes in HVAC repair should be able diagnose and fix the problem quickly. For homeowners, the key is to recognize signs that indicate a furnace needs repair, and schedule an HVAC inspection before it stops working.

Bathroom Flood Prompted Small Renovation

The air is getting colder, which means that winter is almost here. Now is the best time to start getting your bathroom ready for those long and cold winter months. Most homeowners usually stay indoors during that time of the year. Spend this time wisely and get your bathroom ready by adding a few important touches and items.

Make sure that everything done stays well inside of your budget. Also, make sure that you’ve done the proper research and talked to a few professionals about your home improvement plans. Next, take a closer look at your bathroom and determine what beautiful things you want to see in this very personal space.

So, what’s it going to be? Are you choosing the steam or electric shower? Or, maybe you would like a spa bath instead of a traditional bathtub? They are all great ways to spend a few hours during the winter months. Make sure that your bathroom is both practical and relaxing because these new improvements should last a very long time.

Measure Your Space

The average residential bathroom usually has both a shower and bathtub. If you don’t have that much bathroom space, don’t try to change the layout of the bathroom too much. Know that there will be limitations, and you won’t be able to do everything that you want done to the space.

Keep in mind that if you opt for a steam shower, it will require a lot of space, and it has special plumbing requirements. On the flip side, an electric shower doesn’t require special arrangements. It can be installed in the space that you have right now, but you will still need a professional plumber to do this.

Inspecting The Pipes

Most of us forget the importance of inspecting bathroom pipes. Locate a plumbing professional who can inspect your bathroom pipes. This should be done before any installation takes place. Also ensure that the bathroom doesn’t have mold, broken tiles or cracked grouting. Look at the seals and pipe welding before you put in a new vanity cabinet or sink.

The pipes might be rusted or have hairline cracks if you live in an older home. If the home has old plumbing, you could see small pin holes if any of the metal pipes or tubing is broken. If this happens, it is best to locate plumbing company professionals who can handle this for you.

Follow the same type of procedure when putting in a new shower or bathtub. Look to see if tile is loose or cracked before putting in any type of bathroom fixture. If you fail to plug up cracks and holes, the bathroom could end up with excess water and moisture, which will lead to water damage and mold.

About Hiring A Professional

If you were to have a plugged toilet flood your bathroom you may need to get emergency plumber North Vancouver on the job to take care of this for you. You might not be able to see clog, but it is still there and can cause a lot of damage to your home. It doesn’t matter if you plan to get new fixtures or replace the ones that you have, these are all things that should be done to get your bathroom ready for the winter months.

Heating in Cabins and Lodges

Most of the cabins in this area have wood stoves or a fireplace. Firewood is available on request and can be picked up when  you register.

Depending on the time of year you camp and the relevant humidity, you will be required to follow seasonal fire regulations regarding open fires. As long as regulations allow open pit fires at the time, you will be able to cook on an open fire in the designated fire pits.

Heating in certain cabins are maintained by a local plumbing company who we designate on a year by year contract. Hot water is provided in cabins that advertise full facilities, so in rentals with cooking facilities and running water, there are full service bathrooms for your convenience. Please inquire about the availability of central heating in the cabin you want to rent.

Camp Grounds

Most camp grounds have open pits for cooking and evening fires. All fires must be contained in the pits provided. Non-compliance will be grounds for removal, banned from camping and possible fines. Take care to understand the rules regarding open fires while camping.

Some camp grounds have shower, laundry and bathroom facilities. Some are included with registration and some are pay-per-use. Paid facilities are coin operated, so it is advisable to bring a roll or quarters or loonies to use those facilities.  Hot water on demand is provided in a small number of these camp grounds.
